Usually the only reason to obtain an SSL certificate is if you are going to be collecting confidential user information such as credit/debit card information.
All SSL certificates require a dedicated IP which we offer at an additional $2/month (these are included with the business plan). The easiest way is to purchase an SSL certificate from us and we'll install it, you'll find these under your add-ons.
The other way is to purchase your own SSL certificate from a Certifying Authority such as VeriSign, Comodo, Thawte or any other SSL Authority and have us install it for you. The process of obtaining your own SSL certificate is lengthy and can be somewhat difficult.
Once installed pages should be linked using the secure address https:// instead of http://. For example http://www.yourdomain.com/checkout is not secure but https://www.yourdomain.com/checkout is.
